People have a natural instinct to figure out how they fit in world and determining who they are as a person. Not only is it important for individuals to look inside themselves to see what makes them who they are but it is also valuable to take into account their surroundings. This body of work shows both aspects that make the artist who she is, her own personality and how she is affected by the world around her. Each painting demonstrates a personality trait that she has discovered in herself. Composed of multiple reference images to create unrecognizable individuals, they show how she deals with her surroundings and how important it is to keep someone’s context in mind. These paintings interact with each other, with the viewer, and with objects that are placed in front of them. The artist uses functional ceramic objects to represent the physical world. These object are that of everyday life or unique in their purpose. Everyday people will have to deal with what’s around them, though sometimes a person’s situation might be more abnormal. This connection to what is real and physical shows how what people experience internally affects how they express themselves to the outside world.
